Prayers

Prayer is not some “magic” formula, nor is every prayer answered as we would wish. Prayer is bringing our burden to a God who is over all and leaving our burden with Him.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, (said Jesus) all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

You do not need written prayers. You can call to God now in your own words and He will hear. But perhaps you are not used to praying. Perhaps our prayers will help you to pray.

prayers for the families of donors

Our Father, we thank You for all those who cared enough for others to decide to be donors. Help us all ever to remember that we are to love one another.

We remember before You all those who grieve the loss of their loved one. May they derive some comfort from knowing that the death of the one they loved has given health to others.

Somewhere in their grief may they meet with the Lord Jesus who wept at a grave. May they meet Him who gave up His life as our substitute and died to save us from our sins. May they know Him who is risen again from the dead so that all who believe on Him might have eternal life.

In His wonderful Name we pray.

Amen

prayers for the medical profession

Almighty God,

We worship You. We bless you that You have given great gifts and abilities to those You made in your image. We thank You for all in the medical profession to whom you have granted amazing skills, wonderful insights, enormous patience and great dedication.

We give You thanks for the amazing developments that have been made in transplant surgery over the years. We thank You for all the lives that have been saved.

We pray for everyone involved in the area of heart transplant surgery – for all consultants, surgeons, anaesthetists, radiologists, technicians, nurses, co-ordinators, administrators and many more. Guide their hands, help them make right decisions, help them to remain alert after long hours of work, give them the ability to learn new things, keep them fresh as they do mundane things and continually show them Your mighty power to heal. Help them to remain humble and dependent on You, the giver of life.

We pray for financial resources to be available to enable research to be carried out and for the equipment and infrastructure that is necessary.

We pray in the Saviour’s Name,

Amen

prayers for patients waiting for transplant

Eternal God who loves us with an eternal love,

We call upon You for all who day by day are growing weaker in body while waiting for a transplant. Lord You know how difficult it is for us to wait and You know our fears about not getting a transplant in time.

Giver of all graces, we ask You to give us patience and the assurance that You are working out Your purposes. Deliver us from Satan’s darts that tempt us to think You have forgotten us. Let every new day teach us more of Your love to us and let us experience Your peace that passes understanding.

We pray for the one to be our donor. Gracious Lord, in Your mercy remember them and reach out to them with Your great salvation that they may know You too.

Eternal God, work by Your blessed Holy Spirit in us, to enable us to trust You in all situations and to enable us to walk humbly in dependence on You.

For Jesus’ sake.

Amen

prayers for those who care for their loved ones..

Our loving Father in heaven,

we thank You that You are a God who cares. You demonstrated this most perfectly when You gave You Son to die for us. You are a God full of mercy and love and grace.

We ask You to bless all who care for us today. We thank you for wives, mothers, husbands, fathers, children or whoever it is who has given everything to support us in our illness. They never expected to have to give up work or be confined to the home or hospital. They have lost so much from their lives yet have given everything to make life better for us.

We ask You to keep them in good health. We ask You to surround them with Your Presence and bless them in their own souls.

And Lord, help us to be good patients so we do not make their task more difficult. May we be forever grateful that You did not leave us to go through this time alone.

In our Saviour’s wonderful Name we pray.

Amen

prayers for the unborn child with heart issues

Almighty God,

We worship You, the great creator and giver of life. You have given to these dear friends the wonderful gift of a baby. You know the concerns they have over the birth of their precious little one. Perhaps health problems with children in the past has caused anxiety. Perhaps a medical report has caused pain and uncertainty. Or perhaps the outlook is very bleak. But we thank you that you have entrusted this little one to these dear people. You know all about their situation for this child was formed by you.

Psalm 139:13-17

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

We ask you to give grace and patience to this family. We ask you to fill their hearts with Your peace. We ask that the medical profession will handle this situation with great sensitivity and professionalism. We leave their little one in Your precious hands; nothing is too hard for You. But we want to be given grace to pray “Your will be done”. We want You to be glorified in this situation.

We pray in the Saviour’s Name,

Amen

prayers for the child who is waiting for surgery

Eternal God who loves us with an eternal love,

We call upon You for all those little ones whose illness requires surgery and perhaps many surgeries. We pray for ourselves as Mums and Dads and family members who watch the one we love deteriorate in health or struggle to recover from surgery.

You are the giver of all graces: we ask You to give us patience and the assurance that You are working out Your purposes. Deliver us from Satan’s temptation to think You have forgotten us. Every new day, teach us more of Your love to us and let us experience Your peace that passes understanding.

Eternal God, work by Your blessed Holy Spirit in us, to enable us to trust You in all situations and to enable us to walk humbly in dependence on You,

For Jesus’ sake.

Amen
